This past summer, we had the opportunity to experience Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. which offers visitors a unique chance to connect with some of the ocean's most intelligent and playful creatures. This marine attraction is more than just a tourist hotspot – it’s an opportunity to create lasting memories while learning about the wonders of the sea.

Before entering the water, you’ll receive a brief orientation that covers important information about dolphin behavior, interaction guidelines, and safety protocols. Once you're suited up and ready, you'll wade into the crystal-clear lagoon, where the magic truly begins.

Meeting Your Dolphin

The moment you meet your dolphin is one you'll never forget. These intelligent creatures are known for their friendly and curious nature, and they often greet visitors with playful splashes and joyful clicks. You'll have the chance to touch, kiss, and even dance with your dolphin, all under the watchful eye of the professional trainers.

Swimming with Dolphins

The true highlight of the Dolphin Swim is the opportunity to glide through the water alongside these graceful animals. All four of us were excited to take our turn with the two dolphins assigned to our group of 12. Holding onto the dorsal fin of your dolphin, you'll be pulled through the lagoon in an exhilarating ride that showcases their incredible strength and agility. For those who are more adventurous, the "foot push" is a must-try: two dolphins will push you by your feet as you skim across the water's surface, a thrilling experience that feels like flying. Izzy’s attempt at this ended up with a splashing crash at the finish. Dawson looked a bit like Aquaman as he appeared to ride while standing on the water.

Throughout the encounter, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the dolphins' intelligence and social behavior. The trainers also share insights into the conservation efforts undertaken by Dolphin Cove to protect these remarkable creatures and their ocean habitat.

Another highlight of Dolphin Cove is the Stingray Encounter. Here, you can wade into shallow waters to interact with these gentle giants. The stingrays glide gracefully around you, and you have the chance to feed and touch them under the guidance of experienced handlers.

Jungle Trail Walk

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, the Jungle Trail Walk is a must-skip in my opinion. Unkept walking paths lead you to unkept areas with animals starving for attention (rabbits, birds, etc).

Relax and Unwind

After a day of adventures, there is an area where you can relax on a small sandy beach area  or enjoy a swim in the lagoon. The latter part of our day ended in rain, so we did not choose to enjoy these areas on our visit.
